Refunds & Cancellations
- Refunds can be made up until 14 days prior to the event (less 20% administration fee)
- Refunds WILL NOT be given with 13 or less days prior to event.
- If asking for a refund ordered T shirt and posted will be subtracted from entry fee.

- Either course may be changed or reversed due to extreme weather conditions.
- Event will be rescheduled to the following day if there are adverse weather conditions.
- If the event was cancelled for any unforeseen reason it will be held the following day starting 8am.
- If the event is cancelled on both days due to adverse weather conditions it will not be rescheduled and you will receive a refund (less 20% administration fee).
- There will be a refund (less 20% administration fee) if the event is cancelled due to COVID.
- Transfers between starting locations incur a $2 transfer fee - This directly passed on from the Event Company.
Event Conditions
- It is compulsory to go to the aid of other paddlers in distress or needing any type of assistance.
- You must comply to any instruction given to you by any official on or off the course.
- All paddlers contesting the Paynesville course must reach Metung (14km distance) with in TWO HOURS.
- This will prevent water safety resources being delayed at the rear of the field.
- If a paddler does not meet the required time limit, they will be withdrawn from the event at Metung.
- The Paynesville time limit may be extended on the day depending on weather conditions.
- If you are not confident of a two-hour time limit, consider the Metung course as there is no time limit.
- Crafts that have not entered the event and are on the course will be asked to leave the course.
- Scrutineering of crafts will be done before the event for compliancy & safety.
- Crafts that don’t meet regulations will not compete.
- Paddlers will be given a numbered water-proof wrist band to wear on their left arm and you will also have your number printed on your left arm.
- You are required to present all mandatory safety gear at registration.
- Appropriate clothing for all weather elements.
- Water and food to be carried.
- All Competitors Are To Wear There Own High Visibility Clothing, Life-Jacket & Hat.
- Red, Pink, Green or Yellow. NO Hi Vis Gear. NO START.
- Only Australian Standards PFD 1 or PFD 2 life jackets are to used on all paddlers.
- All paddlers are to carrying /attached a Pealess Whistle to there life jackets.
- Bumbags Inflatable Lifejackets can be used on SUPS, Outrigger Canoes & Prone Paddle Board.
- All crafts except Sea Kayaks are to use a leg leash.
- Highly recommended for all Paynesville paddlers to use a paddle lease.
- Highly recommended for all Paynesville to carry a mobile phone in a waterproof case.
- All Paynesville crafts must carry a orange smoke day flare.
- I Can Confidently Remount Any Event Craft If I Need To.
- I Can Confidently Exit Or Roll My Sea Kayak From The Upside Down Position.
- Sea Kayaks must have watertight bulkheads, using a skirt and carry a bailing bucket or pump.
- Sea kayaks may use sails.
- Sit on top kayak paddlers be aware of your ability. The Metung course may take up to 3 hours.
- Minimum 15 years of age to enter both courses. Single or Doubles craft.
- A paddler between the age of 10 years to under 15 years can only enter the Metung course on a doubles craft with a partner 18 years and above.
- Under 18 years must present declaration formed signed by parent or guardian on the event day.
- Between Paynesville & Metung you may experience open water conditions. Experienced paddler only.
- Rescue crafts are provided for water safety not for salvage of craft.
- Judges decision will be final.
- Paynesville course can be directed either side of Raymond island for favourable conditions.
- Paynesville entrants can change to Metung course if they are not confident with weather conditions.
- You must notify officials if you leave the course.
- Paynesville paddlers must have there number ticked off as they past the Metung check point.
- All paddlers must have there number ticked off at the at Lakes Entrance footbridge.
- Any starter who leaves the course and does not complete the event will not be eligible for a prize.
- You must complete the event and be at the lucky draw to be eligible to win a prize.
- I am physically fit and have adequately trained for this event.
- I have completed the distance in a single training session before the event.
- I can confidently swim for 400 metres unaided.
- I have been assessed by a medical practitioner as being physically capable of completing the event.
- I hereby consent to receive any medical attention.
- Including ambulance that may be deemed to be necessary in the event of injury or illness.
- The cost of such action will be met by me.
- My image may be used by organisers for any promotional use.
- I have read, understood, and agree to the race rules as published on the event website.
Compulsory Under 18 Consent Form

Indemnification And Release Of Liability
In return for the Club (SLSLE) allowing me to participate in the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge
I agree:
- To assume and accept all risks arising out of, associated with or related to my participating in the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge.
- To be solely responsible for any injury , loss or damage which I might sustain while participating in the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge.
- To hold harmless and indemnify the organizers of the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge;
- From any and all liability for any damage to the personal property of, or personal injury to, any third party resulting from my participation in the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge and all related activities.
- From any and all claims, demands, actions and costs which might arise out of my participating in the Gippsland Lakes Paddle Challenge;
Acknowledgement
I acknowledge that I have read this agreement, that I have executed this agreement voluntarily, and that
this agreement is to be binding upon myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and representatives, in
the event of my death or incapacity.
COVIDSafe Planning
- All event entrants must be 'fully vaccinated' or have an exemption.
Prior to the event, we will communicate the following public health messages to attendees:
- Each attendee is asked to do a symptom self-assessment prior to leaving home and not attend if they are unwell or have been instructed to isolate or quarantine.
- Attendees must maintain at least 1.5m physical distance between those from other groups at all times.
- To minimise movement, attendees must stay within their allocated spaces or seats where practical.
- Requirements for face covering (if required), observe cough etiquette and personal hygiene measures.
Process to manage an attendee who develops symptoms; this includes:
- Making arrangements to send the person home in suitable and safe private transport so the risk of potential coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission is reduced.
- If the person cannot travel home identify an area where the person can remain in isolation until they are able to travel home
